The latest on my Auto Tracker.

A few of you who were at the nationals last year would of seen my 'Black Magic' Solar maximiser. Also Shown Here.
The unit worked really well. The Black Magic was just a prototype unit.

Ive now made a few minor upgrades.
Also decreased the standby power consumption.
Also improved the low light tracking performance.
And renamed the production version to the 'AutoMax', as shown below. :)
I only have a handful of these at hand at the moment as there is short supply of the main controller IC, the ATmega48PA, due to some US electronics firm taking them all from the manufacturer. :x

The unit is around the same size and weight as the Easymax. Ive added the Box Hill unit in the photos just for you visual comparison.

Hi Tony,

Will this maximizer be more efficient/in general better that the EasyMax 3?

Thanks,

Performance wise.... Ian Gardner's testing has shown its performance to be exactly the same as the Easymax. This was expected as the power circuity is exactly the same.

The only difference is the tracking algorithm.
In a race, itll make hardly any difference.

Tony,

Will anyone be using an Automax at tomorrow's Sunsprint event?

Also, did Ian test how it performed at very low sunlights? (ie < 10%)
