Sunpowers or Sanyo HIT's....now..lol

Ok I've narrowed it down to the Sunpower 205w BLK or the Sanyo 205w HIT pannels...
I can get both for the same price ie. $1095 ea

Pro's and Cons I can find:

Sunpowers...Pros...Highest efficiency (from all the literature Ive seen and read)
Extra long warentee's
Cons...Needing positive earthing through the inverter (not exactly sure what this means or the implications)
I have to source them in a different state ie Sydney and Im in Adelaide so any warentee issues may be more difficult...

Sanyo .......Pros..Still very efficient
Locally sourced
Normal instalation
Possibly better performance than Sunpowers in high heat conditions (but not confirmed )
Cons..Low warentee
Not "as" efficient as Sunpowers
Unsure of their lifespan being new hybrid technology?

Any ideas guys? has anyone here had experience with any of these pannels? Cheers

Hi, did you make a choice between Sunpower or Sanyo? I am in the same situation looking at different panels to install, and have nearly decided on Sanyo Hit panels, but the prices i have received from the solar installer firms are high. My first look at panels I saw the Jinko panels 185w which meet all of the certification and tests, and are manufactured in one of the largest solar plants in China, for a Jinko set up compared to Sanyo it's nearly $5,000 different, so I am asking myself do I need to spend that much extra just for HIT panels that will last just as long as Jinko, possibly Sanyo maybe better in extreme heat and partial shade.
I would be interested in your findings or decision and who in Sydney sells the Sunpower , sanyo products at a good price

Many thanks

I only know of one solar company that sells Sunpower http://www.awsolar.com.au but don't know if they sell separately (without being part of a system they install). I don't know what their prices for panels are, but when I got quotes earlier this year using http://www.solarchoice.com.au they were the dearest by far - and not even using SunPower panels in their quote... I would expect the SunPower to be dearer than the Conergy panels that were included in the quote. It doesn't hurt to contact them and ask.

IMHO unless you have contacts within the industry, it's going to be difficult to get anything at "a good price" (below RRP).

As a comparison you could use EM http://www.energymatters.com.au as a price guide as they list the "supposed" RRP price and their discounted price on their website free for all to see.

I apologise if any of the links I have provided are in breach of forum guidelines. I do NOT have any affiliation with any of these companies.

Thanks for those links Inspector.
I have used Solarchoice for various quotes, and they are extremely helpful esp when your making your comparisons.

IMO Sunpower modules are too expensive, and are only appropriate if you very limited space or your got money to blow.
Personally ild prefer a 2KW Suntech array for the same price as opposed to a 1.2KW Sunpower array. I'm not too sure on the pricing of Sanyo, so i cant comment there.

Inspector, no, you haven't breached any rules, as long as its not blatant advertising/spam, I'm fine with any links.
