Unfortunately I was up the other end of the track and the first I knew was Ian Gardner had picked the car off the track. The girl from St Patrick's asked if she could put the car back and I said she had to ask Ian as he was the official on the spot. The St Paul's car was also stopped and I figured that they must have clashed. The St Patrick's car was put back on the track and was able to complete the course despite a badly collapsed front suspension. The St Paul's car was unable to move. As I said, I did not know the cause of either car's woes but if St Paul's felt wronged they should have spoken up at the time. That is what we had a Clerk of Course for. It may have come down to who was in front at the time, but now it's too late. As Ian Chappel says, look at the scoreboard.
It could be argued that the car had not left the track but had merely come of the guide rail. In fact it is almost impossible to come off the NSW track, unlike the old yellow track or the Tasmanian track, although I have to say that Kill Switch had a pretty good attempt at it, or at least bits of the car did. This is another area that needs clearing up, so thanks for bringing it to our attention.
In fact the whole thing about coming off will be tightened up next year. The races will not be finished until both cars have been stopped and removed from the track, eggs still in place and with no interference of any sort with the other car.
