Renewable energy

Postby Jessica » Thu Jul 16, 2009 4:44 pm

It is seen as the energy power house, and our goal in the 21st Century. It represents a realistic upcoming revolution. Renewable energy contributes to clean water and air, helps fight climate change, fosters energy independence and security.

Renewable energy helps to create jobs, new industries, builds access to community development in which CreatingNrg actively participates, and is backed by the European Commission. The Commission’s proposal for The Directive on the promotion of the use of renewable energy, targets 20% of Europe's energy to be produced from renewable sources by 2020.

Renewable energy is energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat, which are renewable (naturally replenished). In 2006, about 18% of global final energy consumption came from renewables, with 13% coming from traditional biomass, which is mainly used for heating, and 3% from hydroelectricity. New renewables (small hydro, modern biomass, wind, solar, geothermal, and biofuels) accounted for another 2.4% and are growing very rapidly

The use of renewable energy which uses natural resources such as wind and sunlight has been on the rise. According to Renewables 2010 Global Status Report, in 2008 about 19% of global final energy consumption came from renewables, with 13% coming from biomass, which is mainly used for heating, and 3.2% from hydroelectricity. The massive use of renewable energy will help in reducing usage of traditional carbon emitting sources of energy such as coal, oil and gas. Some do argue that renewable energy is too costly, it can be blight on the landscape in many cases and that, ultimately, it is not a realistic or truly efficient way to guarantee energy security.

How viable renewable energy is as an alternative source of energy will depend on each country's natural resources. Know how easily conserving energy can be done at - http://www.concernergy.com/
