They do look well built.

Looks can be deceiving. dry solder joints, poor quality components can be very hard if not impossible to detect visually. Even trained specialists are caught out.

I do like the look of them however.....

the whirlpool forum thread on the cms 2000 - (http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-re ... ?t=1413942)
has some users reporting grid fault trips, seems to be a repeatable problem for the few.

I dont have any system yet - impending purchase. Price wise the cms2000 inverters are a lot cheaper than the alternatives. I'm always looking for the catch. maybe the grid fault sensitivity is it. Long term reliability? How long have these been on the market?

There is a reason for the grid fault...
If your grid is over/under volted, over/under frequency, or even power factor issues and harmonics, then it will isolate itself from the grid. In AU, our grid nominal voltage should be 240V, so if the inverter is seeing 255 volts, then it will trip. The CMS will also trip if it cant output power with a unity power factor, meaning there could be harmonic issues with your local grid.

The reason for the voltage rise?? Could be because the installer used used too small gauge wire from the output of the inverter, causing voltage drop (or in this case, rise), and increasing I²R losses.

Personally, i think the CMS is great. I got 3x6mm² cables going from my 5xCMS2000's to the gross meter/service fuse. Never had a grid fault.

Its one of the smallest, quietest, coolest inverters in its class. Ive opened it, had a good look, and i liked the quality too.

But the ultimate decision lies with you, I'm just stating my opinion.
