New Solar Light Box...

Postby TonyB » Mon Dec 29, 2008 12:43 am

Over the past few days Ive been building a new light box to test my solar panels. It is slightly larger compared to the AIMSCC light box, because it is designed to accommodate up to a 30 watt BP Solar panel.

Currently it is connected directly to the mains, so there is a 100Hz (after rectification) light ripple due to 50Hz AC main voltage. This is the same ripple effect that plagued the AIMSCC light boxes for years and lead to inconsistent light readings. However, im working on a regulator that will filter out the ripple and allow me to adjust the light intensities to anything between 0 - 150% sun 8-) .

Here are some initial shots:

very nice tony,

i have 4 panels that were tested at nationals that have the 50 and 100% readings on the back if you want to test and compare it.

The regulator has been completed, tested and works perfect. No more ripple, and consistent readings. :)
Ill put some photos up when i find my camera.
