Making My First Rc Solar Car

Postby Trixzter » Mon Mar 08, 2010 4:45 pm

So im making a rc solar car for a school project. Im going to use a rc10 car with everything on it. I just wanna kinda add a solar cell to the top of it. Could someone tell me what kinda of voltage and amps i would need for the car to run right?

Aim for over 10 volts at 1-2 amps, then use an MPPT.

I was going to try and use solar cells that put out .5V and 3.6 amps. connected in series i can get up to 18V cus i have 36 of them. is there any way i could just put jumper wires to where the battery goes on a RC10 car and run it off of solar power? i only have about 3 weeks to finish making this car and it a graduation project so it has to be done. I have the full RC10 car, and just need to buy a remote. so i wanna do this as simple as possible, and im not trying to make it supper fast like the ones u guys have (that comes latter), lol now im just tryin to graduate. so is there any way to do it like that? if u have any good ideas plz do tell!!

i strongly agree with Tony here, 10 volts at 1-2 amps would be enough.. But you can search online for more info's about that.
