How Things Stand

Postby Conitsiotis » Mon Sep 15, 2008 11:08 pm

I noticed that there was no topic just talking about the competitions and where the different states are at this point in time.

So which of the states have had their events and what are the dates of the others compared to the AIMSCC competition

Also apart from the main events do most of the states have lead-up/multiple events or what?

Thanks

The NSW competition has been run already.

The results so far are:

1st: ST Pauls.
2nd: Moorebank high
3rd: All Saints
4th: Moorebank again
WILDCARD: Newington College

The weather for the competition was absolutely shocking (Really dark storm clouds + rain).
The finals were run under 2% sunlight and we still had car finishing the entire lap.

Ours occurs really late compared to the other comps - 30th and 31th of October I think, a week before Nationals.

Yeah, We are running the Easymax II & III but because of time constraints we cant start testing the cars until our holidays coming up next week.

Sorry about the delay,

I'm not quite sure about the panel voltage, however the wattages of the panels sit at about 6-7 I think

Hello all,

I have just registered and would like to let everyone know that the new Tasmanian Model Solar Challenge website is now up online. The address is http://www.tassolarchallenge.org.
A link from that site directing people to here has just recently been added. It would be much appreciated if a return link could maybe be organised.
Links to all state model solar challenge websites are also there.

While the site is still under construction and a lot has yet to be uploaded, it does have some information regarding the 2008 AIMSC, to be held in Hobart, Tasmania, on the 22nd and 23rd of November. There are also results from past AIMSCC events.

For those interested and to answer one of the questions posted previously, the various state event dates are as follows:

Tas - 8th Nov
Vic - 18th and 19th Oct
NT - 9th Oct
QLD - 13th and 14th Sep
WA - 30th and 31st Oct
NSW - 5th and 6th Sep
SA - 24th and 25th Oct

miseli - AIMSCC Champion 2005 and 2006

SolarOne,

I have at least 10 more videos of the 2006 National event that I hope to upload in the near future. I will also be adding all the scrutineering photos from the last 2 national events and some 3D Autocad drawing files of cars.

The Tasmanian Committee will insure that both photos and technical data will again be taken and recorded at this year's National event. The University of Tasmania's wind tunnel will also hopefully be set up, so drag forces of cars can be measured and compared.

Are there any videos of the 2007 event that are going to be posted on the site in the near future?

Also are there pictures taken of every single car Nationals, or only to random cars?

BTW - Good Site

Conitsiotis,

Unfortunately I do not possess any videos from 2007. I was last a solar challenge participant in 2006, where the video footage I have was filmed by my own team.
I did not attend the National event in 2007 and have been unable to find anyone wth a video or photos cars racing.

If things go to plan at this year's Nationals, every single car race will be filmed and plenty of photos of cars racing will be taken.

Yes, I have scrutineering photos of every single car from both 2006 and 2007. They were taken by the scrutineers to stop teams using their same cars again this year. They will all eventually be uploaded.

To all,

If anyone out there has any photos or videos from past national car or boat events and would like to get them up online, then please let me know and I will arrange to have them put up on the Tasmanian Website.

Cheers,

Hello everyone,

Just would like to let everyone know that the Victorian Model Solar Challenge has just been on this weekend. To all you Victorians out there, let us know how everything went.
I spoke to one of the Victorian committee's head scrutineers yesterday on the phone and he has promised to send me all their car scrutineering photos and technical details. I may stick some of them up on the Tasmanian Website if the Victorian one doesn't include them on theirs.

I got a few pictures i can give you, ill get them sorted in the next few days then post them up.

Also, i have a feeling that the Victorians wont post pics of their cars up on their website so it'll be great if you can do it on yours.
Its always good to see what the latest generation cars look like. :)

if you can post up all the pics as a zip file for easy download it will be better.
And it will be interesting to see the car data of the victorian cars, they are always fast.
