Feed in question

Postby SunGod » Tue Nov 23, 2010 1:20 pm

Hi, I just got a Sunny Boy 3000TL and I need help understanding the display.
It has a graphic showing the panels producing voltage/amps to the inverter, then the voltage/amps to the grid. The trouble is that these numbers are always almost the same, which does not account for the watts I am consuming. Surely it should be feeding to the grid far less when I am running appliances etc. but not so. It makes no sence. Can anyone help?

I've found the answer to my own question. Turns out that it feeds in the whole lot to the grid and does not factor in my usage at all. I guess it leaves all that up to the meter. The numbers were almost the same minus the inefficiency of the inverter (3%).

Anyone know of a good monitor system that can tell me all the data, including my usage at any given moment? I suppose it would be to expensive to justify it anyway.

Hi Sungod.

Your correct the entire amount goes out into the grid.
The 3000tl shows you input DC power and the output AC power. These figures have to be very close (minus the inverter inefficiency).

Try using the sunny beam for remote monitoring. Or if your unit has bluetooth, you may connect to it with your PC.

Cheers

Thanks Tony. Yes my inverter has bluetooth built in, unfortunately I have an old computer that doesn't. I do however have a smart phone which does(Samsung Gallaxy S). Do you know if that would work? Do I have to download some software for this, and if so where from? Thanks for your help.

Typical, after just having my panels installed it's cloudy and raining!
