Thought ill post a link to Marc Iseli's Youtube Channel. It has heaps of Solar Car videos in good resolution.
If you competed in the last few years you may see a few videos of your car.

Marc's AIMSCC Videos.

Another big thankyou To Marc for going through the effort and time of uploading all these.

I will be bringing up my video camera to Melbourne and have a helper film the entire event again like last year. I will then load a number of the races up on youtube for all to disect.

The new camera I have allows for HD capture so it will give some half decent footage. The video of one of the Tas finals races this year on the Tas website and youtube was filmed with this. I actually got it for a bargain on ebay. Got it in mint condition for about $600 and they are going for about $1200 to $1300 in the stores.

It's a sony HDD handycam, model HDR-SR10E.

It's still not a super camera but for the price I paid I don't think it's too bad.

Marc...

Do you have a longer clip of your demo car that you can post up?

Unfortunately no.

Because I will be at the Science Works on Friday the 26th to do some testing, I should however be able to take some footage then and will load that up onto youtube for all of those who won't be there over the weekend. Hopefully I'll also get some on-board footage at high speeds with the little usb camera that I have. I also have one of those mini wireless video cameras which would allow you to watch a race from the car's perspective in real time on a computer.

I will bring both this and last year's demo cars up and race them off against one another. Could be interesting.

It will be interesting!
You still have last years demo car fully in tacked? Girrawheen certainly know how to dismantle their cars for parts! If I have enough time to turn up new wheels, I should be able to keep Shadow as a demo car. Unless the guys decide to use it for their design, next year. I also hope the new teams design new parts rather than recycle the 2 year old casting system! With me not there, I have no idea how they will finish the cars on time. I prompted them to start at the very beginning of the year, but the boys this year never put all the parts together until the very end. So even if we wanted to test it, we couldn't.

Hi Marc

I was just wondering where you picked that camera up from, the USB one, and for how much, it seems useful.

Thanks

jhg,

Yes, last year's car should still be in working order. I haven't touched it since the nationals last year.

Conitsiotis,

I purchased the usb camera on ebay. I'm not sure if you can get them in the stores.
If you do a search for "MD80" you should find a whole heap of them. Most of the cheaper units are sold from Hong Kong and China although you can get some from Australian sellers at a higher cost. I don't think there is any real difference between them though. There are a few slightly different models on the market. Some have an alloy casing whereas others have a plastic one.
I have the plastic one and it weighs about 15g. I think I payed around $40 for mine and just purchased it without bidding, but I think the prices might have come down in the last couple of months. A few weeks ago I saw some going for less than $20 with free postage.
The video quality is not too bad when the camera is held still, but it doesn't respond all that well to too much movement. I think it should still work OK in a car though. I guess I'll find out in Melbourne.

Hello all,

I have just started loading up some clips from the 2009 nationals onto youtube. I have footage of just about all races, but probably won't get all of them up (I have more than 100).
If there is anyone that would like a race with their car up there then please let me know and I'll see what I can do.

If you have the race where Nigresta didn't start properly and had to be put on the track after the gate was opened, but still managed to win, it would be much appreciated. It was on the Saturday during the second set of wild card race offs.

Hello unussapiens,

Unfortunately I don't possess any footage of the wild card race-offs. Sorry about that. I was helping out with scrutineering at the time and didn't get a chance to get something organised by then. Filming wasn't started until the Round Robins.
I am also missing the first 4 races from the knockout event on Sunday and a few clips do not completely cover races from start to finish.

Wow thanks a lot Marc!

Last request, could you upload our race previous to this. The Plate First Round? or whatever it is called.

Thanks again :D
